Emiliano Sala body identified in the wreckage of the crash #RIPSala

Local police have confirmed that the body pulled from the wreckage of the plane from the England Channel is Cardiff City striker Emiliano Salah. The Piper Malibu aircraft disappeared with Emiliano Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson on board on January 21, with the striker en route to Cardiff after completing a club record move from Nantes.

Police statement issued on Thursday read: ‘The body brought to Portland Port today, February 7,2019 has been identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala, The families of Mr Sala and Pilot Ibbotson have been updated with the news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers, Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time, HM Coroner will continue to investigate the circumstances of this death supported by Dorset Police’

After the record move of Sala from Nantes to Cardiff City, the Argentine forward flew back to Nantes to say goodbye to his teammates on his return back to England, his aircraft disappeared on January 21st. After three days of search by Guernsey Police, the search was called off after nothing was found and he had been presumed dead. Numerous football professionals called for the continued search of the aircraft until a body was found.

The plane was later located on the seabed off Guernsey on Sunday during which time a body was discovered in the wreckage of the aircraft. A recovery operation was then launched following consultation with the families of Sala and Ibbotson and the police. Sala was confirmed dead on Thursday with his body being pulled out and identified from the wreckage. Pilot Ibbotson body is yet to be recovered.

Every football fan was united in this search for Sala and the family finally gets closure after weeks of slim hope, they will get to bury the footballer. Football clubs all paid their tribute to Sala and his family after he was confirmed dead by the police. A truly sad day in the world of football after the long wait for this discovery.

Emiliano Sala scored 42 goals in his three and half season for Nantes before securing a record move to the English outfit Cardiff City. Sala would have been a great addition to the EPL but it is unfortunate that he did not get to play a single game. Our thoughts are with the both clubs (Nantes, Cardiff), Fans, Family and Friends.
